The Chocolate Affair
"more than chocolate…it’s an auction!" Saturday, February 9th
in Charleston at the Holliday Alumni Center at the Citadel. Black Tie is
optional. This gala auction will offer gourmet catering and chocolate
delights from Charleston’s finest restaurants and specialty shops.
Proceeds benefit Communities in Schools of the Charleston Area, Inc., a
nonprofit organization dedicated to helping former dropouts and students
on the verge of dropping out complete their education and become
productive. A great event for all those chicks who love to support a
great cause and you get to indulge in the finest Charleston chocolates!
Chicks Love Chocolate will be donate items for auction so look for us!

Recipes:
Chicks Love Chocolate® Snuggle Up
Hot Cocoa

1 cup powdered nondairy coffee creamer
1 cup sifted powdered sugar
¼ cup good quality cocoa powder
¼ cup mint chocolate or semisweet chocolate morsels
½ cup miniature marshmallows
Combine all ingredients; store in an airtight container. Directions
for gift recipe card:
Add 2/3 cup boiling water to 1/3 cup Hot Cocoa Mix. Enjoy!
Chicks Love Chocolate® Totally
Terrific Toffee
14 Tablespoons salted butter
1 cup sugar
2 Tbsp cold water
½ cup chopped pecan or walnuts
1 tsp vanilla extract
6 ounces of semisweet chocolate morsels
Pinch of salt
Butter a cookie sheet first. Put butter, sugar, and water in skillet
and bring to bubbly boil, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon about
10-12 minutes. Remove spoon from pan, and cook to 300-310 degrees F on a
candy thermometer. Remove from heat and add nuts to mixture. Add vanilla
and salt. Pour into baking sheet and spread to ¼ inch thickness. Cool
slightly and top with chocolate chips, which spread as they melt. Cool
completely and break into pieces. Do not refrigerate! Store in airtight
containers and makes another great gift!
Chicks Love Chocolate® Turtle Candy
150 Pecan halves (3 cups)
50 caramels
8 ounce bag of semisweet chocolate morsels
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. On greased baking sheets, arrange the
pecan halves in groups of 3, flat side down, in Y shapes. Place a
caramel on top of each cluster. Place in the oven until the caramels
soften, about 5-8 minutes. Remove from oven and flatten the caramels
over the pecans with a buttered spoon. Cool slightly. Melt the chocolate
in a double boiler or microwave (defrost setting works best). Dip the
turtles into the chocolate and cool on wax paper. Store in tightly
covered containers in a cool place. A turtle-lovers treat for the
holidays!
Chicks Love Chocolate® Snow
Sprinkle Balls
1 box peanut butter Ritz bits crackers
1 and ½ pounds white chocolate
3 Tbsp shortening (Crisco or margarine)
Decorative sprinkles
Melt white chocolate and shortening in the top of a double boiler.
Dip crackers into chocolate. Put chocolate-covered crackers on wax
paper, and decorate with sprinkles immediately. When completely cool,
store in airtight containers.
