June Chocolate Recipes

Celebrate Father’s Day with these recipes for Dad!

(***By the way, Dad would like to know there was a study that came out recently in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition that found chocolate-loving older men tend to be leaner, more educated, skinnier and suffer from diabetes less than those who eat other sweets!***)

Chicks Love Chocolate® Chocolate Barbeque Sauce

This one is great on pork and beef ribs or chicken. Adds a little something different to try grillside!

3/4 cup cider vinegar
1/2 cup catsup

¼-½ cup Hershey’s dark chocolate syrup (depending on taste)
1/4 cup chili sauce
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup finely chopped onions
2 garlic cloves, finely minced
1 Tbsp brown sugar
1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
1/2 tsp. dry mustard
dash of ground red pepper

Chicks Love Chocolate® Chocolate Heaven Pie

This pie is light, fluffy and delicious after a great meal!

Crust:

3 egg whites ¼ cup sugar

1/8 teaspoon salt ½ cup chopped nuts

¼ teaspoon cream of tartar ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Beat egg whites until foamy. Add salt and cream of tartar and continue beating until very stiff. Fold in sugar, nuts and vanilla. Spoon into a greased 9 inch pie plate, building up sides of shell and leaving center for filling. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 ¼ hours.

Filling:

¼ pound sweet chocolate

2 Tbsp. hot water

1 cup whipping cream, whipped

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Melt chocolate in double broiler ( an easier way is to place chocolate in a glass dish and microwave on 50% or defrost level for 30 second increments until melted). Stir in 2 tablespoons of hot water. Cool the chocolate and fold in whipped cream and vanilla. Fill shell and chill. Enjoy!

Happy Father’s Day and Have a great summer!

Melanie
